About Dehumidifier.lk

Dehumidifier.lk is a Sri Lankan educational publication about indoor humidity. Dehumidifier.lk explains how the island’s 70–90% relative humidity causes mould, dust mites, allergies, rust and damp damage, how dehumidifiers pull that moisture out of the air, and how to size one for a room. Dehumidifier.lk is published by the team behind DRYAir (dryair.lk), Sri Lanka’s dehumidifier specialist since 2016, and sends readers who want to buy to DRYAir’s Colombo showroom and online store.

Why a newspaper about damp?

Because humidity is the most under-reported problem in Sri Lankan homes. It rusts the gate, grows the mould behind the wardrobe, feeds the dust mites in the pillow, fogs the camera lens and keeps the washing wet for three days — and almost nobody measures it. We print the explanations we wished someone had handed us: what the numbers mean, what they do to health and property, and what actually fixes them.

Editorial standards

  • Plain facts first. Every story opens with the answer, then the explanation. Numbers are stated plainly and match across the site.
  • Sources. Health guidance follows established public-health advice (the World Health Organization’s guidelines on dampness and mould, and the US EPA’s moisture guidance). We say when something is a rule of thumb.
  • No medical claims. Drying the air removes triggers for allergies and asthma; it is not a treatment. See a doctor for symptoms.
  • Disclosure. Dehumidifier.lk is published by the team behind DRYAir, and our where-to-buy links go to dryair.lk. We say so on every page, and our guides are written to be useful whether or not you buy from anyone.
